Google is making your ads a bit more interactive – YouTube now supports 360-degree video advertisements on Chrome, Android and iOS.
Beer brand Bud Light is the first advertiser to take advantage of the new feature, which runs on Google’s TrueView ad platform. You can use your mouse to pan around the field of view if you’re on a PC, or you can simply tilt your phone around if you’re on a mobile device.
The feature isn’t surprising; Google unveiled 360 video support in March, so it was only a matter of time before we started to see it in ads too. Google says previous 360-degree videos have performed 36 percent better than their standard counterparts.
With virtual reality finally beginning its march towards mainstream adoption, we expect to see more 360-degree videos – ads or otherwise – popping up soon.
