As my priorities in life had shifted, I knew that when it came to rewriting the second chapter of Think #Digital First, the content not only needed updating, it needed completely rewriting.
Whilst the second chapter is similar to the first edition in the sense that it is still about building a framework for success, I wanted to start the chapter off by asking a few simple questions that I asked myself.
What would your answers be for the following:
- What is the end goal for your business?
- Where do you and your business want to be in three years?
- Where do you see your role in your business in the next 12 months?
I asked myself that exact question when I wrote the first edition of this book, and everything I visualised and put on my vision board has come true, and actually turned out better than I could have imagined.
With thousands of new businesses launching every single month, the future of business growth is through marketing online. All of our future customers will be online, and as businesses we need to change our mindsets and understand how to acquire these clients through Social Media and Digital Marketing.
In chapter two I will take you through understanding and defining the following:
An executive summary gives you an overview of what the business is about, covering everything from your team, business model, marketing plan, revenue and target customer.
Knowing what you’re selling, and how you’re selling it, to your customers is a crucial step to building a successful operation.
Target Market and Competition
A target market is a group of customers towards which a business has decided to aim its marketing efforts, and ultimately its product or service. I will share with you how I defined my target customer, and give you a workbook-style visual where you can do the same.
Sales and Marketing
I want to challenge you, and make you think more in-depth about your business and how sales and marketing is going to be used to achieve your goals. I will ask you four questions with the option to write down your answers inside of the book.
Management and Personnel
Management and personnel is all about building a successful team, knowing their strengths, and, ultimately, what makes them happy in the workplace.
Operation and Assets
It’s easy to look at the big brands such as Nike or Victoria’s Secret and say yes, that is a successful brand, but when it comes to finding your own way as an entrepreneur, branding your business can be challenging.
I give you the tips, tools and tactics needed to create an effective brand style guide, and logo for your business.
When designing the final cost price of your product/service, what do you take into consideration? There is one key aspect that I always take into consideration, and I share this with you, and how to calculate this under the finances section in chapter two of Think #Digital First.
A SWOT analysis will help you identify the positives and negatives inside your business. You identify, measure and analyse your Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunity and Threats.
After going through all of the above, and completing all of the workbooks in this chapter, you will have the framework in place to build a successful business.
